Khan and Bones trousers

Hello listeners and thankyou for joining us again in 10Backward. This episode was made at our special patreon patron party, where we invited patrons to Will and Gemma’s house. There, we all watched The Wrath of Khan and then recorded a discussion about it. So we are joined by the wonderful Rob Chapman, the incredible Dr Jen Howse and the splendid Ian Howse, hope you enjoy.

Prime Directive – Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

Hello! Welcome to another episode of 10Backward, a Star Trek podcast from merry old England.

This episode we decide to take an in depth look at the Prime Directive. One of Trek’s mainstays and the motive for many a good story, this subject is a biggie! So we decided to do 2 parts! This is part one, where we look at times the Prime Directive was not a barrier or even that big a concern! Hence the title! We hope you enjoy this episode and return for part 2!

Quick Drink -Brother

Welcome to a ‘quick drink’ in 10Backward, a special episode extra to our usuals, where we discuss something we just can’t wait for!

In this case it’s the premiere of season 2 of Discovery! This was a pretty big deal to Disco fans and we thought we’d share some immediate thoughts. Did we like it? Loathe it? Indifferent? Find out here!

The 50th Episode! Patreon roundtable on Beyond!

50 Episodes! (not counting special eps we’ve done) We are so very pleased to have done 50 editions of 10Backward and especially pleased that people have enjoyed it. We’ve had wonderful feedback from so many lovely listeners and it makes us very happy that you’ve enjoyed our ramblings! To mark this milestone, we asked our belived patrons to join us to discuss Star Treks own 50th anniversary celebration, Star Trek Beyond. We had a fantastic time recording this and if you’re a patron, head over to our Patreon page for the extended cut!

Fungi, Mycelium and Amok Time

Welcome to the  latest episode of 10Backward. This is a very special episode, where we interview John Holladay, Director of Marketing at Fungi Perfecti, the company set up by the real life Paul Stamets. We talk to John about real Stamets and Discovery Stamets, the possibilities of mycelium both in the real world and Star Trek and a lot of other stuff in between. John is a big Trek fan, so this was a fun talk for all of us. Hope you all enjoy it!

Spock’s World

Welcome to Episode 4 of the Trek Book Club podcast, Spock’s World.

Rob and Rick discuss the book Spock’s World, by Diane Duane. As well as discussing the story we will also talk about the reactions of everyone who took part in the Trek Book Club day on Twitter.

The Cage

The crew gather once again in 10Backward to discuss the first ever Star Trek. Yes, with the appearance of Pike’s Enterprise in the Discovery finale, we thought we’d have a look back at the original Captain Christopher Pike and how well The Cage worked as the pilot to Star Trek as we see it today.

The Savage Curtain

The 10Backward crew look at the Original Series episode, The Savage Curtain. An alien culture forces the crew into a battle between good and evil to study the concept. While not considered a highlight of the show, this episode does grant us some iconic figures in Trek lore. We try to reconcile how a less favoured episode can give us the enduring Surak and Kahless and see if we can discuss the Excalbian rock monster without noting his similarity to… well you know.

For this task, we recruited our first guest, Rob Chapman! Big thanks to Rob for joining us. Rob can be found on Twitter @trekkierob where I am still apologising to him for bringing him in on this topic of all the topics!
